Kurt Zouma is the cover star in the latest edition of Chelsea, and in an exclusive interview with the club magazine – available now in digital and print format – the French defender expresses his delight with life at the Bridge.
The 20-year-old has enjoyed a debut season to remember, impressing fans and team-mates alike with a mixture of composure, concentration, versatility and sheer physicality.
The gentle giant spoke to the club’s official magazine about the beginning of his Chelsea career and the style of play in England.
‘My dream was first to play for Chelsea and then to win all the titles I can win,’ he said. ‘Now, I am in the dressing room with a lot of very good players – I am living the dream.
‘When you play for Chelsea, you have to be ready for anything. If you play with nervousness in your mind, you cannot play very well, but if you can play with pace and stay calm at the same time, you will do very well in England, I think.
’I learn every time I play and that is what I wanted when I signed here. So I am very happy because we are a really good squad, with a really good manager, and we are doing good things together.’
That included our recent Capital One Cup final success against Tottenham - which is celebrated later in the magazine - when Zouma was drafted into central midfield in the absence of the suspended Nemanja Matic.
‘At first it was a bit difficult,’ he explained, ‘but after that I found my rhythm so it was really good for me and a great feeling because I played a final at Wembley.

‘I think everybody here can play everywhere. If the manager wants you to play in another position, you have to be ready and say ‘Okay’ because we have some big games, you know, and the most important thing is to help the team.’

Birthday BluesOne hundred and ten years ago this month, a group of men assembled in the upstairs room of a Fulham Road pub to create what would become a sporting institution.
To mark the anniversary, club historian Rick Glanvill delves into the story of that day in March 1905 and details the huge debt we owe to those who played a part in forming Chelsea Football Club.
